It was called the following:
SS Medina (August 22, 1914-1948)
SS Roma (1948-1952)
MV Franca C (1952-1977)
MV Doulos (1977- October 2010)

Here are the details of the history of MV Doulos- http://www.ssmaritime.net/doulos1.htm

DOULOS is Greek for Servant

INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY

Floating United Nations

With a crew of 350 volunteers from around 50 countries, Doulos is like a 'floating United Nations.' Doulos is proof that people from a variety of cultures, languages and backgrounds can live and work together in close community. We are brought together with one aim: Bringing knowledge, help and hope to the people in the ports we visit.

- page 13 of "The story of a remarkable ship- bringing knowledge, help and hope (150 Doulos International Units)

OM (Operation Mobilization) - Working in every
continent and on every ocean (via two ocean-going ships), Operation Mobilisation
seeks to demonstrate and proclaim the love of God. In every situation OM teams
adapt to the local culture and situation, finding the best ways to share
Jesus.
Through literature, the creative arts, friendship, Bible studies,
videos and cassette tapes, correspondence courses, relief and development work,
and much, much more… by all means possible we will tell people how our lives
have been changed… and how they can meet Jesus.
Wherever possible, Operation
Mobilisation works in partnership with the local church, encouraging and
supporting local believers. Where there is no church… we seek to plant churches

Those Ocean-going ships are MV Doulos and MV Logos Hope (Who is 2 times bigger than MV Doulos)

LOGOS is Greek for "WORD" which refers to John 1:1-2 which is:

"In the beginning, the Word existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He existed in the beginning with God." - International Standard Version.

MV LOGOS HOPE

(SUCCESSOR OF MV LOGOS and MV LOGOS II)

I met a volunteer on-board and his name is Jack Piaget (He claimed that he is NOT related to the Psychologist Jean Piaget, but I am sure he is somewhat related but not directly) who is 26 years old and was from Switzerland. I am sure he is one of many examples that Jesus Christ will never leave them and believe on the dogmas of Christianity. Christianity in this ship is composed of different denominations like (Roman Catholicism, Protestantism, Seven-day Adventism, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc.) It is a collaboration of CHRIST's Domain.

Being in MV Doulos is irreplacable because of her old age. I didn't feel that I am in the Philippines. I stood at a great piece of historical evidence which I embraced with opportune fathom.

"BRING KNOWLEDGE, HELP AND HOPE" is the vision

A ship full of services and a clash of culture brings peace to the crewmembers (Douloids) as their stories ends with the inspiration of Jesus Christ alone.

They advocate Christian volunteerism as a plan of God for them. They say that God plans the pathway and the destiny of the people on board and the ship herself.

The Douloids disperse their help for those who are in need by getting involved with activities.

Bookselling and souvenirs are worthy to let the common good know that MV Doulos is and will ever be a part of their lives.

Let me lay out a Syllogism:
Sacrifice is NO salary
NO Salary is Service for God
Therefore, Sacrifice is a Service for God.

"The ship is owned and operated on behalf of OM Ships International by GBA Ships e.V. , a private, non-profit, charitable organisation registered in Germany."

WE HAVE LAID OUR HANDS IN THE LANDMARK OF MARITIME HISTORY. THE UNDENIABLE, THE UNFORGETABLE, THE REALISTIC, THE REMARKABLE and DEEPLY DISTORTED "SERVANT".

LED GOD LEAD THE WAY OF THE FELLOWS AND GUIDE THEM WITH FAITH. They shalln't be failed.

Hey Kyle,

Thanks for your post! I live on board Logos Hope so good to see it being featured by bloggers around the world.
Just wanted to add one thing though - Actually there are no Jehovah's witnesses or seventh day adventists on the OM ships. However, we are an inter-denominational Christian volunteer organisation, centred around faith in God because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for our sins. We do subscribe to a statement of faith similar to that of the Evangelical alliance. People from all backgrounds are welcome to apply to work on the ship, however they should be aware that they would also need to subscribe to this statement of faith.

Hope that clarifies things a little bit.
